Mismanagement at its Core – Why is Water Being Sent to the Sea While Tanks Remain Dry?

Uvakai Research Foundation strongly condemns the release of water from Pechiparai Dam under the pretext of a flood warning, while thousands of tail-end farmers continue to wait for their rightful share of irrigation water.

Over 17,000 acres of farmland and 52 irrigation tanks—connected to the Radhapuram channel at the tail-end of the Kodaiyar basin—remain completely dry.

We urge the Water Resources Department and the district administrations of Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli to stop this ongoing neglect and ensure fair, scientific, and timely water distribution.
